Erika and Vince were married on Saturday, August 27th at Bowen Mills.  What started out as a gloomy rainy day ended up being a gorgeous sunny day, perfect for an outdoor ceremony!  Bowen Mills holds a special place in Erika and Vincent’s hearts and it was the perfect setting for their wedding day.

We had so much fun working with Erika and Vincent and their friends and family to capture all of the special moments of their day.  We are looking forward to photographing their family again soon.

When congratulations are in order for family, friends or perfect strangers one of the first things we ask them is who is photographing their wedding.  Of course we love it when they say, “You of course!” but for those occassions when we are booked or they are looking into their options we always stress the need to hire a professional photographer.  We remind brides that while the food, drinks and cake are gone immediately, the venue is redecorated the next day and everything else gets thrown away, sold or placed into storage, your photographs are the only lasting reminder that you have of your wedding day.

With the wonderful equipment available to everyone it is amazing to see the beautiful photographs that hobby photographers create.  The key here however is that while someone with great gear is able to get beautiful photographs for fun, do you want to trust them to capture the events and portraits that make up the most important day of your life?

We have several brides each year contact us at the last minute because their “Photographer” backed out or they realize that the friend or relative that is excited to photograph their wedding doesn’t really know what they are doing.  We have also had several brides contact us after their wedding to see if we can help them get some of the beautiful images that the didn’t get on their wedding day.  We are happy to help out in these situations when we can but you can never recreate the moments that happen on that special day.

We understand that everyone is working with a budget.  We just ask that when planning a Wedding Budget that you consider what parts of your wedding day will be the most important and budget accordingly.  Once your budget is in place allow for some wiggle room with the things that are the most important.

Here are some of what we feel are the most important questions to ask any potential photographer you are considering.

Questions To Ask

1.  How much experience do you have photographing weddings?  Do you have complete weddings available for viewing?

2.  Do you have a backup photographer should something happen to you before or on my wedding day?  Is this person a professional photographer and is their work comparable to yours?

3.  What do you have for backup equipment if something is damaged throughout the course of my wedding day?

4.  Do you come prepared for any lighting situation?  Are you able to photograph my wedding with no flash if it is not allowed?

And finally, just a little video to put things into perspective.  Judge Joe Brown presides over a case of Cheap Photography in Michigan.
